Last week, a group of QHS staff and students spent their spring break on a whirlwind tour of Europe, visiting Paris, Milan, Rome, and Sorrento!
The trip began with three days in Paris, where the group explored Île de la Cité, Notre‐Dame Cathedral, Île St. Louis, and the Latin Quarter. They also made it to the Arc de Triomphe, Champs Élysées, Eiffel Tower, Opera House, and the iconic Louvre before catching a flight to Milan!
Highlights in Milan included visits to the world-renowned opera house La Scala and the Duomo, as well as a walk through the city's fashion district and designer shops.
Next up, the students traveled to Rome by train and embarked on a tour of Ancient Rome that included visits to the Colosseum, Forum Romanum, and Piazza Venezia.
One morning was dedicated to touring Vatican City, where the students enjoyed a guided walking sightseeing tour, exploring the Vatican Museums and the breathtaking Sistine Chapel before visiting St. Peter’s Basilica. They returned to Rome later in the day for a walk that took them to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona.
The group spent their last two days in Sorrento, where they visited a cameo jewelry workshop and took a guided excursion to Pompeii. They also visited Capri and the Blue Grotto before returning to Rome to travel home.
This trip was an incredible opportunity for our students to experience the French and Italian cultures and gain a deeper appreciation for history, art, and architecture. We extend special thanks to our trip leaders, Ms. Matthews and Ms. Lundquist; and we hope all of our travelers returned home with a heightened sense of curiosity and appreciation for the world around them!
